We've been counting down the most shocking headlines of 2007, and we'll be revealing one more each day through December 21. We hope you enjoy this look back at some of the posts and stories that we certainly weren't expecting to see.
Back in 2006, The View suffered a big loss when Meredith Vieira headed on to The Today Show. Barbara announced Rosie O'Donnell would be the new moderator that was definitely a big change and one that seemed like it could add a breath of fresh air to the table. Unfortunately, Rosie only seemed to bring drama and negativity to the show from the moment she began. She carried her seemingly never ending feud with Donald Trump into the new year, eventually causing her to clash with Barbara Walters herself and it was all downhill from there. The tensions between Rosie and the other women only got worse as she and Elisabeth Hasselbeck started seriously squabbling, bringing things to a head when Rosie attacked Elisabeth and called her ignorant. The aftermath made speculative headlines about the fate of the show, but in the end Rosie decided to leave The View. The combination of her desire to hog headlines and lose her temper even scored her a spot on our poll for most annoying celebrity of 2007 but we hope that 2008 will be a calmer year in the life of Rosie where she can save her rants for her personal blog.

Madonna is back in NYC promoting her new kids film Arthur and the Invisibles. Madonna was late to her appearance on the Today Show yesterday but she made sure to stay long enough to brave the cold and talk to her fans outside. As for the interview with Meredith Vieira, they spoke about David, siding with Rosie against Donald in this lame feud, and she even joked about Britney as well. Here's highlights:
On part of the reason David has been so easy:
"I can get my older daughter to babysit for me," she said. "Both kids are really great with him."
On Rosie:
"Basically, she's a standup comic. I think all standup comics talk about provocative things in their monologues before shows ... I don't know exactly the content of what she said, but I have a feeling that if every standup comic was penalized for saying every politically incorrect thing ... they'd all be hung in the public square."
She added, "I think people are giving Rosie a hard time. I wish they'd stop. I don't think it's fair."
On Britney:
"We shared a kiss, and I never saw her again." She also joked, "That's how it is, I guess. I wouldn't say we're the best of friends. We just drifted apart. It was nothing intentional."
We wish Madonna would give Britney some advice but I guess she has a lot on her plate with her new addition to her family and her new movie. Btw, I loved Madonna's hair. Much better than the Valerie Cherish do. More pics of Madonna at the screening of Arthur and the Invisibles so

Cake smashed into faces, on-air bickering, gushing over cute boys--maybe Meredith Vieira's new gig isn't so different from the old one after all.
The former "View" hostess made her debut as Matt Lauer's coanchor on the "Today" show Wednesday, officially bringing to a close the era of Katie Couric's perkiness and ushering in a reign of tongue-in-cheek bawdiness.
