The women at the Independent Spirit Awards looked beautiful but kept things more casual with their shorter dresses for the afternoon event. Anne Hathaway shined in her off-white dress with feminine details as many other actresses showed off their flirty styles. Cameron Diaz rocked the stripes, as did Michelle Williams in her sleeveless dress with pockets. Mary-Kate stood out with her shoulder pads and long sleeves and the award-winning Penelope Cruz - who had a run in with ex Tom Cruise the night before - look perfect in a frilly hemmed brown dress.

Meanwhile, the men ranged from jeans to suits, but still looked handsome as usual. James Franco didn't manage to shave for the event but wore his pinstripes proudly. Aaron Eckhart, Emile Hirsch and Blair Underwood sported the denim look while Mickey Rourke had fun running around the blue carpet chatting with everyone. The women wore a variety of colors on the red carpet but one thing was clear on Hollywood's biggest night - they were all glowing. Colors ranged from beautiful blue, which was worn by the lovely Freida Pinto, pretty pink on petite Natalie Portman and ravishing reds as seen on Amy Adams and Heidi Klum. Some looked like princesses in their full gowns like Sarah Jessica Parker and Miley Cyrus. Both wore their very detailed dresses differently but they looked belted and beautiful.

Those that kept away from color still stood out in basic black or light whites. Angelina used her green earrings to capture our attention while Anne Hathaway sparkled in her metallic gown. Anne's dress had plastic sequins, which made it pretty difficult for her to walk into the theater but the dress sparkled with all the lights on her. Jessica Biel went for a dramatic bow while Penelope marked her special night with a vintage gown that was over 60 years old. Kate Winslet looked classic as well as Meryl Streep who was mobbed by the Slumdog kids - who were so excited to ask her for an autograph. It was one of the highlights from the red carpet, along with updo wearing Kate Winslet and Penelope Cruz being the last of the ladies to head into the theater arm in arm.

Looks like Spring may have come early for the cast of Gossip Girl who finally got to ditch their heavy outerwear in NYC yesterday. When the heavy coats head to the closet, little Jenny seems to be back experimenting with eye liner while Blake couldn't tear herself away from her phone. The hot new romance coming Serena's way has just been cast though considering it's modeled after Anne Hathaway's ex it can't end well. While Ed Westwick has been busy with his super steamy photo shoot with Helena Christensen and wasn't in these scenes, the rest of his cast members provided plenty of eye candy.

The 2009 Oscar nominees got to mix and mingle with their competition at the annual luncheon thrown in their honor in Beverly Hills earlier today. Brad and Angelina sat this one out, but Kate Winslet, Penelope Cruz, Robert Downey Jr., and lots of others were happy to come out and pose in front of the the big golden statue. Anne Hathaway revealed that her big date to the event will be her dad, and she is even hoping to score extra tickets for her mother and brother. In just a few weeks this group will be separated into winners and those who are just happy to be nominated, but for now they all seem to be enjoying the honor of being recognized for their hard work.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie may have left the SAGs empty handed last night, but that wasn't about to put a damper on their evening. They looked happier than ever laughing it up with Mickey Rourke at an after party in LA, where Anne Hathaway and America Ferrera also flashed big smiles. Brad and Mickey shared mutual admiration on the red carpet, including Mickey announcing his love for Legends of the Fall and the after party proves again that Brad and Angelina were in a great mood, not a b*tchy one. Meanwhile, Meryl Streep whispered a little something into her fellow winner Alec Baldwin's ear, which may have been an agreement to guest star on 30 rock. How fun that there were deals being made as the stars continued the merriment into the night.

Celebrity Vibe

Some of our favorite actresses got glammed up to walk the red carpet at last night's Screen Actors Guild Awards. Angelina Jolie and Kate Winslet were joined by Slumdog Millionaire's Freida Pinto in different hues of blue, which turned out to be the shade of the night. Angelina even stopped to talk to the press - tell us if you like her friendly or bitchy interview better. Eva Longoria dazzled in another bright award season look, and Amy Adams and Evan Rachel Wood, who seems to be in image overhaul mode, were also on trend in their bright colorful gowns.

Meanwhile, Anne Hathaway and Amy Poehler kept things more simple in white. American Ferrera opted for a neutral tone, and Tina Fey wore one of the evening's only short looks. Emily Blunt added a little sex appeal to things in her sheath and Penelope Cruz looked classy, as always, in a black halter-necked dress. Meryl Streep and Amy Adams posed at a photo call for Doubt in London yesterday. The movie has been garnering a lot of praise recently, with Meryl, Amy and Philip Seymour Hoffman all up for BAFTA awards. It didn't win in any of the five categories it was up for at the Golden Globes but Meryl did tie with Anne Hathaway for Best Actress at the Critics' Choice Awards. As award season heats up there are still plenty of opportunities for more trophies for this star-studded cast.

Last night the 2008 National Board of Review Awards Gala was held at Cipriani's in NYC and once again the ladies were dressed to impress. Sexy Salma continues her fabulous fashion streak and Naomi Watts looks like a million bucks after baby. Anne Hathaway scored another award for Best Actress for Rachel Getting Married while Josh Brolin took home one for Milk. Slumdog was another big winner with Best Film and Dev Patel for Breakthrough Performance by an Actor. A lot of the faces remain the same but we're loving award season so far.
