Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron - An American In Paris
Only two pictures have ever been described by critical concensus as "the perfect film"; Citizen Kane and An American in Paris. This was Kelly's magnum opus. His choreography was of such a standard that the Academy of Motion Picture Sciences created a special Oscar that year in recognition of his achievement. Though Singin' in the Rain is the film everyone knows, this is the film they should all watch. This is the routine everyone hould watch.
Here is his duet with the stunning Leslie Caron, and if there is a more charged duet anywhere in dance on film I have yet to see it. All those fans of crappy celebrity ballroom comps should take note. This is how it's done

End segment and theme music for the 1966 movie "Is Paris Burning ?"
All about the final days of the German occupation of Paris in August of 1944.
Includes appearances by Glenn Ford, Robert Stack, Kirk Douglas, Orson Welles, Anthony Perkins, French actress Leslie Caron, and Gert Frobe (from "Goldfinger" )as the German General given the task of defending Paris - or destroying it !
I was reading some reviews on the movie, and one of the review headings was - "Will Goldfinger burn Paris ?" (chuckle).
"Goldfinger" also appeared in the 1962 epic "The Longest Day" (as a German soldier).
Gert Frobe died in 1988.
The very catchy theme music has a distinct French flavour to it, and was composed and conducted by Maurice Jarre,( who also composed the music for "The Longest Day" ).
There is some actual film footage at the end of the movie showing General de Gaulle entering Paris in August 1944, after the official German surrender of the city.
The aerial footage of Paris was filmed in 1966, and centres on Notre Dame cathedral, the side view of which appears more impressive than the front view.
The bell seen at the beginning of the clip is, of course, the famous Notre Dame bell.
It weighs almost 13 tonnes.

Sam gets back to Los Angeles from New York City and, with nary a moment of rest, goes into rehearsals and a performance for the Emmy Ball at the Shrine Auditorium. Besides rehearsal, he takes you to make up, the red carpet, back stage and finally the ballroom itself.
We start our adventure in the backseat on the way to the Emmy Awards gala at which Sam prepares to perform. We're taken behind the scenes during rehearsal of his "Bridge Over Troubled Water". You get to see the process with the band and his backup singers, along with stage management.
Sam gets into a tux for the walk down the red carpet. After wardrobe and makeup, he heads to the land of microphones.
Cesar Millan (The Dog Whisperer), is the first celebrity we see. On his way to Jean Smart (Designing Women, 24) we see a glimpse of Michael Urie (Ugly Betty) and Kathy Griffin (Life on the D-List) while Sam sings "The Emmy (Lady) Is A Tramp" in the background (from the performance later that night). Also a shot of the beautiful Leslie Caron (A living legend from the MGM days!). Sam poses for paparazzi and is stopped for interviews, so the camera is the voyeur at this point. Hey... that's Stanley Tucci! (Big Night, ER)
We end our trip backstage at the control room and say goodnight to Sam in his dressing room.
