	FANTASIA FILM FESTIVAL - Video 4 - HATCHET 1/3 FANTASIA FILM FESTIVAL 2007 - MONTREAL July 7th Video #4 PART 1 Film : HATCHET This film is SO much fun. The plot is simplicity at its finest: An oddball mix of sightseers on a "haunted boat tour" through the Louisiana bayou get swamp-stranded when their driver messes up in a very big way. Wading through slimy, murky wilderness, the group -- ranging from hipster college kids to a middle-aged wanna-be pornographer -- don't entirely enjoy each other's company. They wander and wade, only to find themselves deeper in the middle of complete swampland oblivion. Could things get any worse for our hapless tourists? They sure can! There's an old legend around those parts, about a deformed child by the name of Victor Crowley who was killed in a less-than-accidental fire many years ago. As the story goes, Crowley, dead or not, remains in the bayou, and has developed some very nasty habits over the years. Unfortunately for our heroes, the Crowley legend is one of the few that proves to be 100% accurate, as is soon illustrated when the once-tragic figure appears from out of the fog, now a giant, hulking monster, and begins tearing people limb from limb! -------------------------------------------- Ce film, c'est une vraie partie de plaisir. Le synopsis est la simplicité même. Dans les bayous de Louisiane, un « tour de bateau hanté » est interrompu par une grossière fausse manœuvre du pilote. L'embarcation s'échoue, et les divers touristes qui étaient à bord sont pris pour se démerder tout seuls. Groupe très hétéroclite: depuis les jeunes collégiens jusqu'au pornographe raté entre deux âges. Ils ne s'apprécient pas trop les uns les autres. Alors, à pied, ils errent dans les tourbières --- mais seulement pour se retrouver perdus encore plus complètement dans des marécages fangeux. Ça ne peut pas être pire, dites-vous? Détrompez-vous! Une vieille légende court dans la région, à propos d'un enfant affligé de malformations, un certain Victor Crowley, mort dans un incendie assez douteux, il y a longtemps. La rumeur veut que Crowley hante encore le bayou; et, au fil du temps, il aurait développé des habitudes atroces. Malheureusement pour nos héros égarés, la légende de Crowley est... tout à fait authentique.
