	Lexa Doig, Michael Shanks, Claudia Black on Childhood Video taken at Dragon*Con 2007 on the third day (Mega Panel 2), Sunday, Sept. 2nd. Usual apologies...shaky camera, no tripod, laughing my butt off...but you get the gist of it anyway. Again, the question was much earlier in the video, and was, "What were you like when you were a child? Around age 9/10." Lexa Doig said a few things that no one could hear, because she wasn't near the mic. This is from when she could actually be heard, Michael Shanks' answer, and Claudia Black's. Lexa Doig: I was a...I was a brat when I was ten. And, uh, that's about it. (I can't remember/hear exactly what she said then, but it starts with "I liked to..." run around, maybe?) (To Michael) Don't bother me, man. You had a mullet. I've seen it. Michael Shanks: Uh....I was a redneck. Claudia Black: "Was?" Michael Shanks: Yeah, I know, was. I'm still wearing the same clothes. Um, yeah, all I know is that the yearbook pictures of the...my parents' pictures of the 70s fashions are not particularly appealing. I looked like James at Fourteen in those days. Remember that show? (I have no clue what he's talking about...anyone??? Though I did find a tv show from 1977 called "James at 15"?) Um...ehhh, god, I'm that old, huh? Um... Claudia Black: There was one person in the audience who knew that. Michael Shanks: I know. Um...But I was passionately in love with two things-- Ice Hockey and Battlestar Galactica. General screaming from the crowd at that (well, duh!), and someone screams "Go Hockey!" or maybe "No Hockey". I can't tell. Claudia Black: I can't remember 8 and 10 specifically...8 or 10 specifically...but a little bit later, when 21 Jump Street started, I wanted to be Richard Greico. Very normal, very normal. So I dressed like him, and I had this hair product called "Stiff Stuff" which sort of took my...my fringe up to about here (holds her hands above her head). I had short black hair and uh...(big breath in) normal. I just love Claudia's presentation of things! View Video

	Claudia Black talks about Vala and Daniel Video taken at Dragon*Con 2007 on the third day (Mega Panel 2), Sunday, Sept. 2nd. Usual apologies...shaky camera, no tripod, laughing my butt off...but you get the gist of it anyway. Claudia Black: Oh, just as much fun to tease Daniel as it was to tease Michael. Michael Shanks: (Sorry, folks, I don't remember what he said and I can't make it out...anyone?) Claudia: Um...Michael was the perfect, um, comedy partner to...to sort of...I think that Prometheus Unbound...I was talking about this in the panel yesterday...um, it just seemed like a really fun opportunity for Michael to take the comedic action lead. And, uh, I wanted to...to...I don't know, I...I...I hadn't seen many, um, episodes where he specifically had been...his character had been with other women, and I imagine that this was a very different set of circumstances for his character. So I just said to him, "You know, is there anything in particular..." Yes? (Addressing this to Michael, who looks like he just HAS to comment.) Michael: Um...when you say "Hasn't really been with very many women..." Claudia: Well, there were those interesting scenes with General O'Neill. Michael: Ok. (Something from the audience that he looks a bit squicked by.) Awww....god. (pause) Am I being asked something? Claudia: No. I was just sharing the love. But, yeah. I mean, Vala is obviously a fantasic, vibrant character to play, and I just love being able to mix up every scene. I mean, Chris would always go, "Oh, god, she's gonna chew the scenery in this one." "Oh, what's she gonna do now?" "Oh, well, of course, let's just, you know, overact again." But that's the joy of her. I mean, I would always sound it out with the guys and say, "Was that too much?", and Chris would be like, "Oh ya think?" But, you know, you need to...to find the balance to make sure you're being responsible with the storytelling. And...and we would put in our things, and, you know, you learn to not expect the extra things to...to be in the cut. It's always a...a nice surprise, when it's there. And, you know, we got to do some fun things, you know, that weren't necessarily... Chris came to me in the episode where we're trying to dial the DHD, and Chris was like, "I think it would be really funny if we like, I fell on top of you." (general laughter) Claudia: And I think they kept the line in...I said to you, "Well, I'm flattered, Muscles, but I don't think we have time." Christopher Judge: Yeah Claudia: So the great thing about Vala was she presented everyone, you know, being around all the characters on SG-1, the opportunity to freshen it up and do something different. She wasn't beholden to the, you know, the military protocol, so she could just sort of mix it up every day. And...and..uh, she, yeah, she was quite fun. Chris (to Michael): So, you're character's not gay? Michael: You talkin' to me? Chris: I've played the entire 10 seasons like you're character was gay. (pause) All those longing looks. Michael: Oh, I figured that's because I was playing your character like he was in drag. (pause) For the first five seasons of the show, I thought Ru Paul was playing Teal'c. Chris: Only if Ru Paul was a drinker. Paul McGillion: Again...uncomfortable. View Video
