Michou d'Auber

Sequenze cardini del film scelte e montate da me.
Bertrand Morane aveva due hobby: la lettura e le donne. Più le donne che la lettura... Si definiva uno stallone, tanto da decidere di raccontare in un libro la sua vita, per tutta la durata della quale è stato ossessionato e guidato dal fascino delle donne e dal desiderio di possederle.
"Le gambe delle donne sono dei compassi che misurano il globo terrestre in tutte le direzioni, donandogli il suo equilibrio e la sua armonia", usava dire Bertrand, e certo gli sarebbe piaciuta la vista di tante paia di belle gambe al suo funerale...
Nato dalla volontà di mettere insieme tutte le attrici francesi con le quali avrebbe voluto lavorare, "L'uomo che amava le donne" è forse il film più autobiografico tra quelli di Truffaut.
Grazie anche alla collaborazione in fase di sceneggiatura da parte di Suzanne Schiffman (e Michel Fermaud), i già splendidi personaggi femminili tipici dei film di Truffaut acquistano qui un'intensità decisamente fuori del comune. D'altra parte, avendo al centro del racconto sempre lo stesso personaggio maschile, era assolutamente necessario riuscire a costruirgli intorno un universo femminile di grande impatto. Tanto più che questo film, e di conseguenza l'autobiografia che Bertrand scrive, è quasi una dichiarazione d'amore a tutte le donne del mondo.
Raccontato come un lungo flashback a partire dal funerale del suo protagonista, il film propone al suo interno svariati momenti di ricerca biografica. Ma è soprattutto grazie alle parole della voce fuori campo - sia quella ripresa dal libro di Bertrand che quella della sua editrice che ci presenta il film - che la pellicola sviluppa la sua componente 'sociologica', regalandoci perle di saggezza a proposito del rapporto tra i due sessi con parole che non è facile dimenticare.
