Violence Towards Animals Leads To Violence Towards Humans
"humans are more important then animals"
That is the belief so many people strongly hold.
But our mistreatment of animals often leads to our mistreatment of our fellow human beings.
Animals are so helpless, they are the voiceless, and are completely at the mercy of us human beings, but we are both interconnected, and if you're capable of violence towards innocent animals then you certainly are against your fellow humans.
"Murderers very often start out by killing and torturing animals as kids." - Robert K. Ressler , FBI Serial Killer Profiler
Here in this video Ali Macgraw tells us to make the connection and that animal cruelty hurts everyone. Violence is violence, suffering is suffering pain is pain, no matter what living creature it's committed against, and there's no doubt that our mistreatment of animals has, and does lead to the mistreatment of each other.
So please support political advocacy to strengthen animal protection laws and punishments to people who abuse them, so they are dealt with appropriately and are reluctant to do it again; and really at the end of the day, just show compassion to the helpless creatures who are caught up in the middle of a human race who for the life of them just can't get along, and that way things may be a little bit better in this world; not only for the animals, but for each other as well.

Sorcerer (1977) original theatrical trailer
Here is the preview reel for William Friedkin's SORCERER, an underrated masterpiece of the 70s. I saw the film TWICE on its opening night (one of the very few to see it in the theatre at all in 1977). Not only do I think it is Friedkins' greatest film (and from what Ive read about him, he agrees), better even than The French Connection or The Exorcist ... but I also think its far superior to the original French film from the 50s, The Wages of Fear, by Henri Georges Clouziot. I know, its "blasphemy" to claim that a remake can be better than the beloved original, but the 78 version of Body Snatchers managed to do it, and so did this brilliant film. Unlike today's filmmakers, in the 70s they could sometimes give a remake an even break.
According to Friedkin's biography, Steve McQueen was interested in playing the Scheider role, but he wanted Ali Macgraw with him on location shooting in the Dominican Republic, and asked Friedkin to make her an associate producer. Friedkin refused (a decision he regrets now), which is unfortunate because with McQueen in the lead role, the film would certainly be seen as a true classic now. As it stands, it has legendary cult film status.
The same Tangerine Dream theme that plays in this trailer was used a year later in the original theatrical trailer for "The Warriors" (even though the song wasnt in the actual film). That preview is also available on Youtube and this video is linked to it.

As the mission proceeds, the men carefully drive their nitro-loaded trucks thru the difficult mountain roads as Tangerine Dream's "Grind" plays on the soundtrack.

SORCERER - The Bridge - 1 of 2
William Friedkin's SORCERER is an underrated masterpiece of the 70s. In this scene, Jackie Scanlon (Roy Scheider) and Nilo (Francisco Rabal) attempt to cross a very unstable rope bridge in the middle of a huge storm.
From IMDB:
The film was originally supposed to be shot in Ecuador for the jungle scenes but when that was deemed too expensive it was moved to the Dominican Republic a virtual military dictatorship at that time. The town in the film is Alto Gracia. Soon after the film was finished the town erupted in real life riots (reflecting a scene from the film) when the president nullified an election that he lost to a liberal candidate. The riots spread to neighboring villages forcing the president to step down.
Despite its look, the rope bridge was actually quite elaborate in its construction and contained numerous safety devices as well as hydraulic lifts in order for the special effects crew to manipulate it into motion. It cost one million dollars to build. After it was completed, the original river for the scene (in the Dominican Republic) went almost completely dry for the first time in its history due to a drought.
The bridge had to be torn down and a new location in Tuxtepec Mexico was found. The bridge had to be rebuilt at the cost of another one million dollars. However once again at the new location the raging river started to dry. The crew had to put a 24 hour guard around the bridge because the superstitious locals threatened to blow it up believing it was the bridge/intruders that caused the river to become shallow.
By the time filming began the water was only 18 inches deep and looked completely nonthreatening. The crew didn't have the time or the money to find yet another location so Friedkin decided to add an artificial current and rainstorm (using helicopters/wind machines and men on towers with giant hoses.)
The bridge itself was so rickety that despite the safety precautions the truck (often with an actor inside of it) slid off the side and into the shallow water five times during rehearsals and filming. The entire sequence took three months to shoot. Friedkin stated it was by far the most difficult sequence he ever filmed in his career.
