I just decided it was time to make the video. I use videos as my "journaling" tool and it'll probably be one of the best ways to get it off my chest. Any all you others out there who feel the same way, I want to hear it. Being a gay Christian is hard, very hard. But it shouldn't be.
My Story focuses on trying the best to be myself and a good Christian. How can I do such a thing I've thought for the longest time. Since I was re-baptized (and for me this was the real deal, feel the presence of Jesus, knowing your place with God) at 19, I've found myself struggling in church and religion. Biting my tongue when someone speaks conservatively about political issues in the world. I believe in the Bible with all my heart, body, and mind but I do not believe that focusing on abortion, evolution in schools, and sexually evil acts is anyway to accomplish anything in politics OR religion. Why can't we just comfort and love the teenage pregnant girl instead of condemn her as a sinner for having a child out of wedlock? Why must we rush youth into marriage so that they can raise a family when neither one is ready to support one? But the biggest issue for me, why is it that when I ask a Christian if they don't like anyone they always say, "I think I really only have a problem with the gays."... Ouch, being a gay Christian and not even being able to seek help about it. It's not even an issue to people, because they do not understand it. "You just can't be gay, those are the rules, plus it's gross anyway and who would want to do that." Having to turn to drugs to "cure" my depression so that everyone would think that I'm not hurting inside. Only to have them condemn me more for drug use. I had fallen. So far and so hard that I was hurt bad. My emotions didn't even function correctly anymore. But I've worked past that and out of the slump. Thanks to God's blessing me with the reform I had undertaken, I've seen my problems in a new light as well as the world. It is such a beautiful and wonderful place. And helping people has always made me the happiest. So I've decided to take my new character and outlook on life to the internet, where I found others with very similar problems, stories, and views. There are others! And in finding out about Barack Obama's ideas for "helping" the country in its dire time of need, I also came across the book "Failing America's Faithful" very recently in fact. And these two things have sparked my interest so much in what I can do to help, what I can do to make a difference and change the world. I was always told that I would be great someday, and I hope that if I am great, I will do great things.

I've recently had such a flood of awareness and faith that I had to venture out for information. I began with seeing some politics on television but lost interest quickly because I have thought for the longest time that our country was ran like a business, whatever is better for the ones making the rules, and that's just to the victor goes the spoils and the way it is. But then after viewing Obama on Youtube and seeing how this country is starting to speak its mind again and get ideas out there to reform and rework our system, I decided to go out searching and discovered that his policies are so amazing toward all sorts of issues to HELP the country, community, and individual. To unite the divided on all levels.
This promoted me to take a closer look into our politics and my interest is soaring. I recently found a book called "Failing America's Faithful" by Kathleen Kennedy Townsend. And it spoke to my heart so much on the use of religion in politics and politics in religion. Just knowing that I wasn't the only person who thought it was time to stop condemning people and start helping them. Her efforts and ideas coupled with Obama's open mind and political policies have fueled me so much to make a difference in this world. It's like I've been called to do great works for this country and for the church and I'm ready now to begin those works and involving myself more in the community and reaching out to those in need.
