Bea channels Elaine and Picks on Jim Colucci

Everyone has heard of this great new book by Jim Colucci - "The Q Guide to the Golden Girls" just released and selling fast...AMAZON has only 5 copies left and they are rushing new stock as we speak.

This is a follow-up video to a clip that has gotten great traction on you tube. In fact I was contacted by a gay newspaper to comment on it.

To let you in on the joke...Elaine Stritch was up for the part of Dorothy in Golden Girls. You see they were looking for a Bea Arthur type. Much to the chagrin of Bea...Jim interviewed Elaine for his book (damn ethical completist journalism) :).

In this clip Bea steals one of Elaine's songs and picks on Jim who was in the audience that night.

We have some additional information on this book and our participation in it on our website at:

http://www.judyandme.com/qguide.html

PS (Our website also includes a copy of the youtube clips on it)

Q Guide To The Golden Girls - Jim Colucci

In the new "Q Guide To The Golden Girls" author Jim Colucci follows up his "Will & Grace" book and gloriously reports on what many people consider the best TV show of the 1980s.... and perhaps of all time. "The Golden Girls". This paean to the silver haired denizens of Miami is told through lavender glasses and I don't plan on leaving the house without them on ever again!

Here is Bea Arthur (aka John Schaefer) discussing the book and reading a chapter to the audience...about ELAINE STRITCH...who was up for the part of Dorothy.

the book is available on Amazon.

Dinah Shore & Jane Russell sing "The Ladies Who Lunch"

This gem comes from a 1979 episode of "Dinah!" subtitled "Glamour Is..." with classic glamour gals Diahann Carroll, Jean Peters, Jane Powell, Debbie Reynolds and Jane Russell as well as the designer Bill Travilla who Dinah refers to in this song from Stephen Sondheim's "Company". I've never seen this one as a duet but it may be the only video record of Miss Russell's performance. Someone please let me know if I'm wrong. Jane was the replacement for Elaine Stritch in the original Broadway production and judging by her contribution here, probably did a bang-up job.
