Background: the program is a failed pilot called "Alexander the Great" (we could have seen this every week!), and as if you couldn't already guess was shot before these two gents became Kirk and Bruce Wayne, in 1965. It was helmed by noir director Phil Karlson (also known for the Matt Helm films and Walking Tall and also features the aforementioned JCs, Simon Oakland ("Vincenzo" from Kolchak), the lovely Ziva Rodann, and character actor Cliff Osmond. It's an epic shot on a small budget, and plays at times like the Trek episodes where they beam down to planets that have civilizations that resemble ancient Rome and Greece ("Plato's Stepchildren," anyone?).
