Anastasia- At the Beginning

When I was child "Anastasia" was my favorite movie and now I made this amv... I hope you like it! ^_^

Here there is the lyric:

We were strangers,
starting out on a journey
Never dreaming,
what we'd have to go through
Now here we are,
I'm suddenly standing
At the beginning with you

No one told me
I was going to find you
Unexpected,
what you did to my heart
When I lost hope,
you were there to remind me
This is the start

And life is a road that I wanna keep going
Love is a river, I wanna keep flowing
Life is a road, now and forever,
wonderful journey
I'll be there when the world stops turning
I'll be there when the storm is through
In the end I wanna be standing
At the beginning with you

We were strangers,
on a crazy adventure
Never dreaming,
how our dreams would come true
Now here we stand,
unafraid of the future
At the beginning with you

And life is a road that I wanna keep going
Love is a river, I wanna keep flowing
Life is a road, now and forever,
wonderful journey
I'll be there when the world stops turning
I'll be there when the storm is through
In the end I wanna be standing
At the beginning with you

Knew there was somebody, somewhere
A new love in the dark
Now I know my dream will live on
I've been waiting so long
Nothing's gonna tear us apart

And life is a road that I wanna keep going
Love is a river, I wanna keep flowing
Life is a road, now and forever,
wonderful journey
I'll be there when the world stops turning
I'll be there when the storm is through
In the end I wanna be standing
At the beginning with you

Life is a road that I wanna keep going
Love is a river, I wanna keep going on
Standing out on a journey

And life is a road that I wanna keep going
Love is a river, I wanna keep flowing
In the end I want to be standing
At the beginning with you...

Yes, Anastasia

"Yes, Anastasia" is a song by Tori Amos from the album "On the Pink" inspired by the legendary Grand Duchess Anastasia. Here's what Tori has to say about the song:

"It's a journey. Anastasia Romanov... it's not like I've read loads of books on her. I was aware of the family and that's about it. So I'm in Virginia, and I had crabs...I keep saying that! I had crab sickness, I had eaten bad crabs in Maryland! But I couldn't cancel the show. I was at soundcheck, and needless to say, when you are very, very ill, it is easier to communicate with your source... you are fragile and vulnerable. Well, her presence came. Now I have only heard of her in history, I've got no point to make. She comes and goes 'you've got to write my tune.' I 'go ohhh, now's not really a good time.' She says 'no, you've got to understand something from this, there's something here that you've got to come to terms with.' And that night came," as she softly sings the line "'We'll see how brave you are,' and that was really about the whole record. That came just about before everything. And whenever I sing that chorus, 'we'll see how brave you are,' it means so many different things to me. It's part of my self, my spirit self saying to the rest of myself, 'if you really want a challenge, just deal with yourself. The funny thing is that Anna Anderson, who claimed to be Anastasia, died very close to where I was playing, an hour or so from there in the 80s. The feeling I got that Anna Anderson was Anastasia Romanov. She always tried to prove it and a lot of people believed her and some people didn't want to believe her, because of what that would have meant. And again, it's really working through being a victim. 'Counting the tears from ten thousand men, and gathered them all, but my feel are slipping.' You can't blame the men anymore; there's always you. It comes back to us; it comes back to me."
-- Tori; B Side, 04/94

Grand Duchess Anastasia Nicholaevna Romanov was born in 1901 as the fourth daughter of Tsar Nicholas II, Emperor of all the Russias. After the Russian Revolution of 1917, she and her family were moved to Siberia, where finally in Ekaterinburg, the Tsar, his wife, their four daughters, the hemophiliac heir, Alexei, the family docter, and four servants were brutally executed with bullets and bayonets. Here the story of Anastasia ended in the eyes of history. But soon rumors that reports of one of the Grand Duchesses had survived, almost always Anastasia, emerged.

In 1920, a woman who had attempted to kill herself was placed in an asulym in Berlin, Germany. She refuses to tell the docters her true identity. With prompting from her nurses to reveal her identity, she eventually declares that she was the Tsar's youngest daughter, Anastasia, miraculously saved by the hailstorm of bullets in Ekaterinburg. And thus, the 1920's saw endless controversy. Those who had known the Grand Duchess best in Russia remained divided over the issue of her identity, with some saying she was, others saying she was not.

The case took a drastic turn in the 1930's when relatives of Nicholas and Alexandra ask a Berlin judge to formally declare the Tsar and his children officially dead so that they could inherit the small inheritance that had been located. "Anna Anderson", as she was now called, with backing from her supporters issued a countclaim, claiming that she, Anastasia, was still alive. The trials went on for three decades. The final verdict of the West German Supreme Court was not handed down until 1970. The ruling was that Anna Anderson had failed to prove she was Anastasia, but it also held that the death of Grand Duchess Anastasia in Ekaterinburg had never been a historically proven fact.

Anna Anderson died in America in 1984, never able to prove her case in a court of law.

It was in the 1990's that the bodies of the Tsar and his family were finally unearther from a mass grave, formerly held as a Soviet state secret. Much to the shock of everyone, two of the Tsar's children were missing from the grave. American and British teams determined that the two missing children were Anastasia and Alexei.

However, DNA tests conducted on samples said to have come from Anna Anderson with Prince Philip showed no relation to to the Victorian line indicating that she could not have been Anastasia.

But extensive researches for the bodies of Grand Duchess Anastasia and Tsarevich Alexei have produced not a single trace of their bones. The mystery goes on.
