Allison Smith's career started at the age of nine in the Broadway musical "Evita", which was quickly followed by her landing the title role of "Little Orphan Annie" on Broadway in the musical "Annie" at the age of ten. She was the longest-running and youngest star of a Broadway musical up to that time. She has acted in all seven seasons of NBC's "The West Wing" (1999) in the recurring role of "Mallory O'Brien" and, in May 2004, will be seen in the CBS miniseries Helter Skelter (2004) (TV), in which she portrays real-life Charles Manson murderess Patricia Krenwinkel. She has starred in several television series: CBS's "Buddy Faro" (1998), ABC's "Spy Game" (1997) and CBS's "Kate & Allie" (1984) (for six seasons) and has played the lead in the independent features "At First Sight" and "A Reason To Believe" and supporting roles in such features as "Holes", "How To Make An American Quilt" and "Switchback". Her theater work includes starring in the LA premiere production of David Mamet's "Oleanna" and in "QED" opposite Alan Alda at the Mark Taper Forum and working with Randy Newman on his musical "The Education of Randy Newman" at South Coast Rep, for which her vocal performance got rave reviews. She was born in New York City and grew up in Bergen County, New Jersey.
