Daughter of acclaimed photographer Harry Benson. Sister of Tessa Benson Studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and the Eugene O'Neill Center. Her father Harry Benson is a Glasgow born photo-journalist who got his first exclusive in 1956 covering the scene of a murder by the infamous Peter Manuel, a Scottish serial killer who was Brian Cox's inspiration for "Hannibal Lecter" in the film Manhunter (1986).
