Jackée Harry started acting after she was bored as a high school history teacher. Eventually, she appeared on Broadway in "Eubie!" and "The Wiz". Her tv roles are usually brash, wisecracking, man-hungry women.

When Jackee and Marla Gibbs had a falling out while working on "227", Jackee was offered to star in a spin-off. For this reason she left the show and shot the pilot for "Jackee". No stations would pick the show up so no more episodes were ever filmed. In the pilot Sandra (Jackee's character) moves to New York and gets a job at Sensations Health Center. Since Jackee and Marla have made up you can see the pilot ran as a regular "227" episode that's a little out of place.
