Alma was born and grew up in Elbasan, Albania. Her family came to the US by winning the American Lottery, and moved to New Jersey as Alma was turning 16. After graduating from high school Alma attended Rutgers University where she studied a number of subjects from biology to french literature, philosophy etc, before deciding that a life in the performing arts was the unavoidable and adventurous future. She spent almost a year in Seattle working on fringe theater and moved to Los Angeles Summer of 2006.
