She graduated from Livingston High School, Livingston, New Jersey in 1978. Modeled clothes in the New York Time's Fashion Section in 1975. Grew up in Livingston, New Jersey, and attended Livingston High School with Jay Greenspan, now known as Jason Alexander. The two co-starred in numerous high school productions. It was Montgomery who showed the greatest promise; she won a small part on a soap opera while still in high school. Won her hometown beauty pageant as Miss Livingston 1976.
